Alixe Lay

Born in the soft, slow suburbs of Malaysia and now rooted in the sprawl of London, Alixe Lay is a self-taught photographer with a doctorate in psychology and a lens that sees beyond the surface. She first picked up a camera as a teenager — not out of ambition, but instinct — turning her friends and hometown streets into quiet archives of youth, stillness, and in-between moments. Her work lives somewhere between memory and myth — where cultural lineage meets a kind of cinematic dreaming. With a visual language that feels at once antique and urgent, Alixe draws out the emotional undercurrent of a scene with tenderness and grit. She’s not interested in spectacle. She’s interested in truth — the kind that lingers in glances, shadows, and unspoken histories. A romantic at heart but a documentarian in method, Alixe builds images that feel familiar, and real.
