I recently photographed Bow Foodbank, documenting the incredible work they do and the local community they support. It is such an important project, highlighting how people look after one another in times of need.
Bow Foodbank provides essential groceries and household items to people facing hardship, but their work goes far beyond food. They offer guidance, community, and a place where people are met with dignity and warmth. Many of their guests return not only for support, but also for connection.
It was a real joy to photograph, thanks to the wonderfully welcoming team. Huge thanks to Joseph Rowntree Foundation for the commission.
Bow Foodbank is currently running a crowdfunding campaign in partnership with Aviva, and it is a brilliant way to support them if you can. Through this initiative, the Aviva Community Fund doubles every pound you donate up to £50,000, making each contribution go twice as far. The funds will help train more volunteers and expand support beyond food, offering legal advice, assistance for young people, digital inclusion programmes, and longer-term guidance.
