Over the summer I was commissioned by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation to portray Tower Hamlets, one of London’s most economically deprived yet culturally rich boroughs.
This area is a stark illustration of the city’s deep inequalities, where the financial district - home to some of the world’s highest-paid professionals - rises only minutes from council estates and food banks that have become part of daily life.
Yet despite these contrasts, Tower Hamlets remains a place of resilience, care and solidarity.
